Why This Season Matters
For Northeast families, this changes the Disney cruise equation.
One of the biggest hurdles I hear when Massachusetts and New England families start thinking about a Disney cruise is not the cruise itself. It is getting everyone to Florida first.
Flights add money, another layer of logistics, and often an extra travel day on either side of the vacation. For six of these seven sailings, you can instead get to the ship by car or train and return to New York when the cruise ends.
That makes this short fall 2027 season particularly interesting. The Disney Wish will sail from New York only seven times, between September 29 and November 5, and the itineraries are different enough that choosing the right sailing matters.
Why I Am Watching These Closely
This is the kind of Disney cruise opportunity Northeast families do not get very often.
I have had plenty of conversations with families who love the idea of Disney Cruise Line but hesitate when the trip also requires airfare to Florida, airport transfers, and another hotel night before the cruise.
A New York departure removes a lot of that friction. It also gives families several very different ways to experience Disney Cruise Line, from a shorter Bermuda getaway to a full seven-night Canada itinerary.

The Complete New York Season
Seven sailings. Seven slightly different vacations.
All seven depart from New York City. The October 31 sailing is the exception on the return: it ends in San Juan, Puerto Rico, so that itinerary requires a flight home.
Pricing varies by sailing, stateroom category, party size, and the ages of the travelers. I pull current pricing based on the actual family traveling rather than publishing a starting fare that may not apply to you.

Bermuda or Canada & New England?
These are two very different versions of a fall Disney cruise.
I would choose between them based on what your family wants from the vacation, not simply which dates happen to be open.
Bermuda
One more stretch of warm weather.
The 4- and 5-night Bermuda sailings are the ones I would examine first for families looking for a shorter Disney cruise paired with turquoise water and a warmer-weather destination.
The September 29 four-night sailing is the shortest of the New York season, which may make it especially appealing for a first cruise or for families not ready to commit to a full week.
Canada & New England
A fall trip where the ports matter too.
These sailings make more sense for travelers who want the destinations to be a meaningful part of the experience, not simply somewhere the ship happens to stop.
Fall color can be beautiful along these routes, though foliage timing is never guaranteed. It creates a completely different kind of Disney cruise from a typical tropical itinerary.
The One for People Who Cannot Choose
October 8 gives you Canada and Bermuda on the same cruise.
The six-night October 8 sailing is the unusual itinerary of the season. It combines the cooler-weather Canada side of the trip with Bermuda.
It also spans the long Columbus Day weekend, which may reduce the number of school or work days some families need to miss.

About the Disney Wish
The ship is a big part of why this short New York season stands out.
The Disney Wish entered service in 2022 and is one of Disney Cruise Line's newer ships.
Onboard you will find Disney's rotational dining, Broadway-style entertainment, elaborate youth spaces, adult-only areas, pools and family activities, along with experiences created specifically for the Wish.
The ship gives different generations plenty to do separately while still creating shared experiences around dinner, entertainment, characters, and time together.
The Disney Cruise Line Experience
It is not just the ports. Part of the vacation is everything that happens between them.
Disney Cruise Line is especially good at making the ship itself feel like part of the destination. The days are filled with little traditions and experiences families remember just as much as the ports.
That may mean a Broadway-style show after dinner, kids disappearing happily into their clubs, an adults-only meal, character encounters, pool time, or simply stopping for another soft-serve cone because you can.
This is one reason a shorter Bermuda itinerary can still feel like a substantial vacation. You are not waiting for the ship to arrive somewhere before the fun starts.
Which Sailing Would I Look At First?
Start with what matters most to your family.
Seven sailings sounds like a lot until you start matching them to the actual people taking the trip.

Who These Sailings Fit Especially Well
Disney Cruise Line can make multigenerational travel surprisingly easy.
One reason I like Disney Cruise Line for families is that the vacation does not depend on everyone wanting to do the same thing all day.
Children and teens have spaces designed for their ages. Adults have restaurants, lounges, pools, entertainment, and quieter places of their own. Grandparents can be part of the vacation without needing to follow the exact same schedule as the youngest travelers.
Then everyone can come back together for dinner, shows, characters, ports, and the experiences that become the memories of the trip.
Add the ability to begin in New York instead of coordinating flights to Florida for several households, and these sailings become particularly interesting for Northeast multigenerational families.
