Everything you need to understand the three Lightning Lane options, make your advance selections and use your passes strategically once you are inside the parks.
Updated August 2026Let’s Start Planning
Start here
Multi Pass and Single Pass
Lightning Lane entrances provide a shorter alternative to the standby queue at select attractions. Multi Pass covers a collection of experiences; Single Pass is reserved for a small number of the most in-demand rides.
Lightning Lane Multi Pass
Choose up to three Multi Pass experiences and arrival windows in one park before your visit.
- At Magic Kingdom, EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, advance selections use two groups.
- Animal Kingdom does not use groups.
- After redeeming a selection, choose another available experience, one at a time.
- Includes downloads of select attraction photos and videos from that day.
Typical price range: about $15–$35 per person, per day, with prices reaching $45 or more on some high-demand dates.
Lightning Lane Single Pass
Purchase a return time for a high-demand attraction that is not included with Multi Pass.
- Purchase up to two Single Passes per day.
- May be purchased with or without Multi Pass.
- You choose an arrival window before completing the purchase.
- Valid only for the selected attraction and time.
Typical price range: about $10–$25 per attraction, per person.
These ranges are planning estimates, not fixed prices. Actual pricing varies by date, park and attraction. The My Disney Experience app displays current prices for up to 21 days in advance. Passes are limited, nonrefundable and nontransferable.
My Disney Experience
When and how to purchase
Disney Resort and select hotel guests
Beginning at 7:00 AM Eastern, purchase up to seven days before the first day of your stay for the length of your stay, up to 14 days. This benefit includes Disney Resort hotels, the Walt Disney World Swan, Dolphin and Swan Reserve, and Shades of Green.
All other guests
Purchase up to three days in advance. With a date-based ticket, that window opens three days before the ticket’s start date for all valid admission days. Other ticket types and Annual Passes are handled one park day at a time within the three-day window.
- Prepare your account. Download the latest My Disney Experience app, link valid admission and confirm everyone appears correctly in your Family & Friends list.
- Open Lightning Lane Passes. From the app home screen, find the Lightning Lane section and tap “Purchase.”
- Choose your day and park. Select a date, theme park and the pass or passes you want.
- Make selections. Choose up to three Multi Pass experiences and arrival windows and/or up to two Single Passes. Premier Pass does not require ride selections.
- Review before paying. Confirm every guest, date, park, attraction and return time, then complete the purchase.
How I help: Lightning Lane passes must be purchased by you through your My Disney Experience account, but you do not have to figure out the strategy alone. When you book your Disney vacation with me, I’ll help you think through the pass options and priorities so you can purchase with confidence.
Options and strategies
Plan each park differently
Use these lists to identify your group’s priorities before your purchase window opens. Attractions and availability can change, so check the app again on your purchase date.

Magic Kingdom
The most Multi Pass choices
Choose up to one
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad [38"]
- Jungle Cruise
- Peter Pan’s Flight
- Space Mountain [44"]
- Tiana’s Bayou Adventure [40"]
Single Pass
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train [38"]
- TRON Lightcycle / Run [48"]
Choose your other two, or all three
- The Barnstormer [35"]
- Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
- Dumbo the Flying Elephant
- Haunted Mansion
- “it’s a small world”
- Mad Tea Party
- The Magic Carpets of Aladdin
- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
- Mickey’s PhilharMagic
- Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Tomorrowland Speedway [32"]
- Under the Sea
Celeste’s strategy
In advance: prioritize Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Big Thunder Mountain or Jungle Cruise from the first group. Strong second-group choices include Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean and Winnie the Pooh. Consider a Single Pass for TRON.
In the park: once the groups no longer apply, look first for remaining high-priority selections such as Peter Pan’s Flight and Space Mountain.

EPCOT
Make the first group count
Choose up to one
- Frozen Ever After
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
- Test Track [40"]
Single Pass
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind [42"]
Choose your other two, or all three
- Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival
- Journey Into Imagination With Figment
- Living with the Land
- Mission: SPACE [40"]
- The Seas with Nemo & Friends
- Soarin’ Across America [40"]
- Spaceship Earth
- Turtle Talk With Crush
Celeste’s strategy
In advance: choose the most important of Frozen Ever After, Test Track or Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. Strong second-group choices include Soarin’, Spaceship Earth, Mission: SPACE and The Seas with Nemo & Friends.
In the park: keep checking the first group, then look for Soarin’, Journey Into Imagination and Living with the Land as your day unfolds.

Hollywood Studios
Prioritize the hardest reservations
Choose up to one
- Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run [38"]
- Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets [48"]
- Slinky Dog Dash [38"]
Single Pass
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance [40"]
Choose your other two, or all three
- Alien Swirling Saucers [32"]
- Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage
- Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!
- For the First Time in Forever
- Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular!
- The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure
- Star Tours [40"]
- Toy Story Mania!
- The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror [40"]
Celeste’s strategy
In advance: prioritize Slinky Dog Dash or Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. For the other two, consider Toy Story Mania!, Tower of Terror, Alien Swirling Saucers or the Frozen sing-along. A Single Pass can remove uncertainty around Rise of the Resistance.
In the park: keep checking for the first-group attractions you did not secure, plus the most important second-group choices for your family.

Animal Kingdom
No advance selection groups
Multi Pass
- Expedition Everest [44"]
- Feathered Friends in Flight!
- Festival of the Lion King
- Finding Nemo: The Big Blue... and Beyond!
Single Pass
- Avatar Flight of Passage [44"]
Multi Pass, continued
- Kali River Rapids [38"]
- Kilimanjaro Safaris
- Na’vi River Journey
- Zootopia: Better Zoogether!
Celeste’s strategy
In advance: consider Na’vi River Journey, Kilimanjaro Safaris, Expedition Everest and Festival of the Lion King. Because there are no groups here, you may choose any three available Multi Pass experiences.
In the park: continue prioritizing the attractions above, then look for Kali River Rapids and Feathered Friends in Flight! based on weather and showtimes.
Use the system well
Ten Lightning Lane tips
- Choose one early Multi Pass arrival window. Once you tap in, you can start adding another available selection.
- Research attractions before your purchase day and rank each person’s must-dos.
- Set a calendar reminder for 7:00 AM Eastern on the day your purchase window opens.
- Assign one person to manage selections for the connected travel party.
- Bring an external battery pack. You will use your phone throughout the day.
- Refresh regularly. Availability changes as other guests modify their plans.
- Modify instead of canceling when you want a better time or attraction.
- Book your next selection as soon as you redeem one. Do not wait until you exit the attraction.
- After the first redemption, the advance selection groups no longer restrict additional choices.
- With Park Hopper admission, your next Multi Pass choice can be in another park, subject to availability.

A separate third option
Lightning Lane Premier Pass
Premier Pass includes one-time entry to each available Lightning Lane experience in one selected park. You do not reserve attractions or arrival windows, so your day is far less dependent on your phone.
Premier Pass can make sense for a one-day park visit, a special occasion, a major holiday or a family that places a high value on flexibility. During quieter periods, a thoughtful combination of Multi Pass, Single Pass and standby queues may deliver enough value without the added cost.

Common questions
Lightning Lane FAQs
Can I purchase now and cancel later?
No. Lightning Lane passes are nonrefundable and nontransferable. Review the date, park, guests and selections carefully before completing the purchase.
How do I enter a Lightning Lane?
Go to the Lightning Lane entrance during your scheduled arrival window and tap in with a linked MagicBand, MagicBand+, Disney MagicMobile pass, Key to the World Card or ticket card.
When can I make another Multi Pass selection?
Once you redeem a Multi Pass selection, or once its arrival window has passed, check the app for another available experience. You can continue adding selections one at a time until regular park closing, subject to availability.
Can I park hop with Lightning Lane?
Multi Pass can be used across parks after you redeem your first selection, provided you have valid Park Hopper admission or an Annual Pass. Single Pass applies only to its selected attraction. Premier Pass is valid in one selected park.
Can different members of my group choose different rides?
At the time of purchase, the initial Multi Pass selections must be the same for the eligible guests included in that transaction. After purchase, you can modify experiences or arrival windows for individual guests, subject to availability.
Can I still use Rider Switch?
Yes. Speak with a Cast Member at the attraction before anyone enters the queue. Each guest using the Lightning Lane entrance needs valid access for that attraction.
What happens if I am late?
Do not rely on an unofficial grace period. If you know you will miss the arrival window, try to modify the time in the app before the window begins. Cast Member assistance is discretionary and is not guaranteed.
What happens if an attraction closes during my return window?
Check the My Disney Experience app for an update or replacement experience. The available remedy depends on the pass, attraction and circumstances. If the app does not explain your options, ask a Cast Member for help.
Can I ride the same attraction more than once?
Each pass includes one Lightning Lane entry per attraction per day. To ride again, use another available queue.
Are PhotoPass photos included?
Multi Pass and Premier Pass include digital downloads of select attraction photos and videos captured that day. This does not include every photo taken by a Disney PhotoPass photographer.
